Welcome to the first post on the Cheese Please DC blog!
I am writing this first post after a whirlwind weekend of cheese board-ing. A graduation board for 30 on Saturday and a baby shower on Monday made for a lot of last minute Target and Trader Joes runs! Does anyone else wish Trader Joes had a store loyalty program?! Thank goodness for my Target RedCard! I've never really considered writing a blog before, I have given journaling several tries in the past to no avail so we will see how well this works out. Perhaps this will be a good location to post my DC cheese restaurant reviews, or maybe that will end up in its own separate tab if there are a lot of them! Definitely check out my instagram highlight reel, "Dining Out", to see all the places I have been so far!

Maybe let's make this first blog post a little bit about me! I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, the capital region, and was actually not a cheese eater at first *gasp*. I would order hamburgers and be upset if there was cheese on them and hated macaroni and cheese in boxed and casserole forms! It wasn't until I got to college that my palate really expanded and I fell in love with the many forms and flavors of cheese. As an animal and veterinary science major at Clemson University (Go Tigers), I had the opportunity to take Dairy Science classes and even got to make my own cheese! Of course I had to milk the cows first which was not my favorite activity, but I persevered.
Since college, I have made Washington, DC my home to pursue a career in animal behavior! That's right, no more veterinarian job for me, I would rather watch animals for hours on end while recording their every move! I love trying out DC restaurants with my friends and sampling all the cheeses on the menu! I started making my own boards for my family and friends during COVID as an easy snack to eat outside while socially distancing. I still spend most of my time feeding my friends but have since grown to include instagram followers and fans who want a cheese board for their own parties! I have to say, it is much more nervewracking making boards for people you don't know personally but everyone has seemed happy so far! Be sure to fill out the contact form on the home page if you are interested in having a cheese experience at your next gathering!
Well I'd say that's a long enough post for a welcome, I hope you'll come back soon and join me on more cheese adventures in DC! Thanks for reading and see you soon!
